Accreditations

RA Smith has developed a comprehensive and fully aligned Integrated Management System (IMS) which it implements when undertaking all of its operations. The IMS consists of a number of pillars, each of which is independently audited and certified to the applicable global standards.

One key pillar of the IMS is that of Safety Management (WHSMS)  as this is instrumental in defining the approach taken across all operations to minimise the risk of harm to all affected by those operations. This pillar is accredited as follows:

  • Occupational Health and Safety Management System – Accredited to ISO 45001:2018

In addition, RA Smith is pleased to have also obtained independent assurance from a key Client Project Manager in the form of:

  • NSW Department of Commerce against Version 4 Guidelines for OHS Management System

These accreditations demonstrate that the WHSMS of the IMS  pillar is not only compliant but also robust in its comprehensive coverage of all critical aspects of Safety management. Implementation of the Processes and Procedures defined within this system and their diligent tracking and recording enables RA Smith to not only provide the certainty expected from existing and potential future Clients, but also enables internal operational upskilling through feedback and continual improvements which are identified.

The second critical pillar of the IMS component is that of Environmental Management (EMS). Coupled with Safety this facilitates the compliant delivery of project works and is especially important as many of the locations in which RA Smith undertake their activities are sensitive to disturbance. This pillar retains the following accreditation:

  • Environmental Management System – Accredited to ISO 14001:2015

The implementation of the EMS ensures that proper assessment of potential environmental harm is completed, and mitigations put in place, prior to mobilisation of plant and equipment to undertake construction operations. This ensures that damage is avoided at all stages of our operations and, if required by the pre-commencement risk assessment process, additional engagement with Authorities can be undertaken to ensure full concurrence from affected Stakeholders.

The final pillar of the IMS is that for Quality Management (QMS). This pillar plays a critical role in ensuring that permanent works construction is performed in accordance with the requirements of the given contract, and retains the following accreditation:

  • Quality Management System – Accredited to AS/NZS ISO9001:2015

With its comprehensive suite of Procedures, under-pinned with associated Inspection and Test Plans, Checklists, etc. the recording of actual works performed and its conformance to the nominated requirements enables RA Smith to clearly demonstrate to Clients at any time that the works are being correctly constructed. This IMS pillar is subject to continual improvement, based on the ongoing implementation experiences of our project teams and therefore improves with every revision of a document – further assurance both externally and internally of a “job well done”.
